What is ReceiptSnap?

ReceiptSnap is a privacy-first receipt scanner app for iOS. It helps you scan receipts with your camera, automatically extract store names, dates, and totals using offline OCR (Optical Character Recognition) technology, and organize all your receipts in one place. You can export your data to CSV for easy bookkeeping or expense tracking. All processing happens on your device - no cloud, no accounts, no subscriptions.

How do I scan a receipt?

Open ReceiptSnap and tap the camera button
Allow camera access when prompted (required for scanning)
Point your camera at the receipt and tap to capture
Crop the receipt image if needed
The app automatically extracts store name, date, and total amount
Review and edit the extracted information if needed
Save the receipt - it's now stored locally on your device

How does the automatic text recognition (OCR) work?

ReceiptSnap uses Apple's Vision Framework for OCR processing. This means:

Can I export my receipts?

Yes! ReceiptSnap includes CSV export functionality. You can export all your receipts at once:

Go to Settings
Tap "Export All Data (CSV)"
Share the CSV file via AirDrop, email, or save to Files
Import into Excel, Google Sheets, or your bookkeeping software

The CSV includes store name, date, total amount, and other receipt details.

Does ReceiptSnap work offline?

Yes! ReceiptSnap works completely offline. All scanning, OCR processing, and data storage happens locally on your device. No internet connection is required to use the app. Your receipt images and extracted data never leave your device.

What data does ReceiptSnap store?

ReceiptSnap stores the following data locally on your device:

Receipt Images: Photos of your scanned receipts
Extracted Data: Store name, total amount, date
App Preferences: Settings and preferences

All data is stored using SwiftData (local database) and UserDefaults. No data is sent to external servers, and there is no tracking or analytics.

Is my data shared with third parties?

No. ReceiptSnap does not share your data with any third parties. The app:

Does not use analytics services
Does not use advertising networks
Does not sync to cloud services
Does not send data to external servers
Only uses Apple's Vision Framework for OCR (processing happens on-device)

Your receipts and data remain private and secure on your device.

How does the lifetime purchase work?

Yes! After scanning, you can review and edit all extracted information:

Edit the store name
Adjust the total amount
Change the date
Delete receipts you no longer need

All changes are saved locally on your device.

Does ReceiptSnap support Dutch receipts?

Yes! ReceiptSnap is optimized for Dutch receipts:

Recognizes common Dutch store names (Albert Heijn, Jumbo, Lidl, etc.)
Understands Dutch date formats (dd-mm-yyyy)
Recognizes Dutch text patterns ("Totaal", "Te betalen", "Bedrag")
Supports both Dutch and English receipts

The OCR engine is trained to recognize text in both Dutch and English.
